Department of Medicine Grand Rounds
Internal Medicine Academic Half-Day (Protected Time)
Other Conferences
In July 1, 2008, the UHIMRP started a pilot Academic Half-Day which is held every Tuesday from 12:30–4:30 pm at The Queen’s Conference Center. The implementation of this pilot activity is the result of years of discussion at past Program retreats, efforts of the Academic Half-Day task force and willingness of faculty and residents to work together toward common goals. The sessions include didactic lectures spanning all subspecialties and all of the General Competencies, Morbidity and Mortality Conferences, Clinical Pathology Case Conference, Board Review and Grand Rounds. The potential benefits include: dedicated learning time free from clinical and service responsibilities, improved conference attendance, improved morale from bringing residents together from multiple sites, and program-wide common educational experiences. Innovative learning formats are encouraged and sessions are allocated for resident-driven topics and speakers.
