Exam and Research Requirments



Each year, the resident is required to take the following exams:
  • American Board of Pediatrics In-Training Examination
  • American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology Psychiatry Resident In-Training Examination (PRITE)
  • American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology Child Psychiatric Resident In-Training Examination (Child PRITE)
In addition, the resident rotating through psychiatry is required to participate in annual “Mock Oral Board Exam” experiences for both Adult and Child psychiatry.

All residents are required to take and pass Step III of the medical licensing exam by December 31st of their PGY 2 year.

The combined resident may take the certifying examination of the American Board of Pediatrics during the fall of the fifth year, but must wait until all 5 years are completed before taking any of the certifying examinations of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Prior to completing the program, the resident is required to complete an original research project to be presented at departmental grand rounds.
