Research Opportunities



The Department of Psychiatry has an active research division, which has received over $13 million in the past 6 years in grants from sources such the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and National Institutes of Natural Sciences (NINS). In addition to teaching and clinical duties, faculty are also involved in research endeavors with interests ranging from cultural psychiatry to methamphetamine addiction and neuroscience and brain imaging. Residents are required to complete a research project prior to graduation. Resident projects may subsequently be presented at a national conference or be submitted for publication.
